Hi,

Y'all may find this information in msinfo32 and also in device manager.

To check in device managing director:

a. Click on start

b. In run box type in devmgmt.msc

c. In device director window aggrandize 'disk drives'

d. Double click on the sub particular and click on details tab

in linux we can find the hdd setail by proper name example

hda- ide type

sda - scci or sata or sas

any fashion to find the hdd  type  in windows os ? similar linux

whatsoever command or something

· Did you refer the steps from the links I accept suggested in my previous post?

I would also suggest going into the BIOS settings and checking the Hard disk.

Note: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may forbid your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any issues resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can exist solved. Modifications of the settings are at your ain gamble.

I followed those directions for my main HDD and on the details tab, it says this:

IDE\DISKST31000520AS____________________________CC32____\5&2F7BFBF2&0&0.0.0

It says IDE in that cord of information, merely my HDD is a SATA drive.

Am I doing something wrong?

Use msinfo32 or Device Manager to detect the model identification and and so look that up.

I was trying to demonstrate the the skillful Microsoft Support Engineer answer is useless to make up one's mind if your drive is SATA or IDE (without the additional step you took).
