Back up and restore the registry in Windows XP

To back up the registry on a Windows XP computer, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type regedit in the search box and click OK to open up the Registry Editor
  4. On the left pane, click Figurer to select information technology
